It gathered streams through June 2025 as the band was pushed into listeners' algorithmic playlists and passed a million monthly listeners within about a month of its Spotify profile going live, while Stereogum and others questioned whether the act was real; on 5 July 2025 the band's statement, quoted by Stereogum, confirmed that it is a synthetic music project guided by human creative direction, with all characters, music, voices and lyrics generated with the assistance of AI tools, framed as an artistic provocation about authorship in the age of AI. The auto-generated upload on YouTube, provided by DistroKid, had 534,000 views by 29 September 2026, when the Spotify track showed about 5 million plays.
