Disclosure policy
AIPopDB records films, music, creators and personas made with AI. This page explains where our facts come from, how a record gets published, and where AI is involved in making the catalogue itself.
How we use AI in our own work
We research and draft records and news briefs with the help of AI tools. They read public sources — a work’s own pages, the platforms it is published on, and news reports — and draft a record from what those sources state.
Depending on the kind of record, a draft is either reviewed by an editor before it goes live, or published automatically once it passes the checks below. Editors can correct or withdraw any record at any time.
Sources and checks
Records list the sources their facts come from, so you can check them yourself.
Before a film, song, person or news brief goes live it must pass a publishing check: its required facts must be filled in, a person must cite at least one source, a news brief must link the story it summarises, and a film or song must credit at least one person, model or company. A record that fails stays unpublished until it is fixed.
News briefs
Each news brief is a short summary written in our own words. It never reproduces the original article, it names the outlet that reported the story, and it links to that story so you can read it in full.
Views, followers and charts
Figures such as views, subscribers and monthly listeners are read from the platforms themselves, such as YouTube and Spotify, and re-read regularly. A figure is the count when we last checked it, not a live count.
We do not estimate or invent figures. Where we have no figure, we leave it out. Charts rank on these readings.
How we describe AI involvement
A record describes AI involvement as its sources do: whether a performer is an AI persona, a human or a hybrid, and which AI models or tools are credited on a work. We rely on what creators, platforms and reports state; we do not independently test whether a work was made with AI.
Images
Images are credited with their source and licence where these are known. Some images come from a work’s or creator’s own public pages without a licence having been established. If you hold the rights to an image and want it credited differently or removed, contact us (below).
Corrections and contact
If you spot an error, want a record corrected, or hold the rights to an image and want it credited differently or removed, email us. We review every request and correct the record where the sources support it.
