Privacy policy
What personal information AIPopDB collects, why, how long we keep it, and how to ask us to change or delete it.
Who we are
This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use AIPopDB, why, and what you can do about it.
You can browse AIPopDB without an account and without telling us anything about yourself.
What we collect
We only collect personal information you choose to give us, plus what any website receives when you visit it:
- Newsletter: your email address, when you signed up and confirmed, and whether you have unsubscribed. If an email to you bounces or is reported as spam, we record that too, so we stop emailing the address.
- Contribute forms (Submit a work, Report a credit): your email address, your name if you give it, and what you write in the form.
- Visits: like any website, our servers receive your IP address and browser details with each request. We use the IP address to stop abuse, such as a script sending a form over and over, and not to identify you.
- Reading news: we count how many times each news brief is read. The count is an anonymous total per brief per day; it is not linked to you.
What we don’t do
- We don’t run advertising or advertising trackers.
- We don’t use analytics tools that follow you around the site or across other sites.
- We don’t sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
- We never show your email address on the site.
How we use it
- To send the weekly digest you signed up for, and the email that confirms your sign-up.
- To read and act on what you send through the Contribute forms, and to reply to you about it.
- To keep the site and its forms working and free of abuse.
Who we share it with
We use service providers to run AIPopDB: the companies that host the site and deliver our emails. They handle your information only to provide that service to us.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- A newsletter sign-up that is never confirmed is deleted after 7 days.
- A subscriber’s details are kept while they are subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we keep your address marked as unsubscribed so we don’t email you again by mistake; ask us and we will delete it entirely.
- Contribute form submissions are kept while an editor needs them, and deleted when they are no longer needed.
Your choices
Every digest has an unsubscribe link, and you can use it at any time. To see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, email us.
[email protected]Other services on our pages
Some pages show players from YouTube and Spotify and load fonts from Google Fonts. Those services receive information from your browser under their own privacy policies. Our cookie policy explains more.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information — for example by adding analytics — we will update this page and the date at the top.
