Biography
Mario Gianani is an Italian film and television producer, born in Rome; Wikipedia gives 1969 or 1970, and the Italian producers' association APA gives 1970. He founded the film company Offside with director Saverio Costanzo in 2001 and in 2009 co-founded Wildside with Lorenzo Mieli. Fremantle acquired Wildside in 2015, and he ran it as sole CEO from January 2020.
His film credits include Vincere, The Eight Mountains, There's Still Tomorrow and Limonov: The Ballad, and with Mieli he produced the series The Young Pope, The New Pope, My Brilliant Friend and We Are Who We Are. He left Fremantle in January 2024 and co-founded Our Films in Rome with Mieli; Mediawan announced a majority stake in it in August 2024.
Our Films produced Be Brave, Francesco Carrozzini's documentary about Diesel founder Renzo Rosso, which premiered at Venice in 2026 and which festival director Alberto Barbera called the first Italian feature-length documentary made entirely with AI. Gianani is credited among its producers.
