Biography
Lorenzo Mieli is an Italian film and television producer, born in Rome in 1973 to the journalist Paolo Mieli. In 2009 he co-founded Wildside with Mario Gianani, and the pair produced series including The Young Pope, The New Pope, My Brilliant Friend and We Are Who We Are. Fremantle bought Wildside in 2015.
He later served as CEO of Fremantle Italia and from 2020 ran The Apartment Pictures, the Fremantle company he founded, whose credits include The Hand of God, Bones and All, Priscilla, Queer and Parthenope. The Hand of God was nominated for the Academy Award for best international feature.
He and Gianani left Fremantle in January 2024 and launched Our Films in Rome; Mediawan announced a majority stake in the company in August 2024. Our Films produced Be Brave, Francesco Carrozzini's documentary about Diesel founder Renzo Rosso, which Venice festival director Alberto Barbera described as the first Italian feature-length documentary made entirely with AI. Mieli is credited as one of its producers.
