They Say It's the Dark

"They Say It's the Dark" is a single by Kelly Boesch, released on 17 January 2026 by Gelsomina Studios under exclusive licence to Nettwerk Music Group. Boesch says the song is about how society did not simply drift into cruelty but made room for it and grew comfortable with it, while she still hopes people can find their way back to empathy and kindness. Its video is a dance film of figures in Picasso-like masks animated with Veo 3; unusually, she left in some of the AI's unnatural movements and turns because they added to the unsettling mood. She wrote the lyrics, and the music was made under her direction with help from Suno.
