TikTok is trialling an opt-in tool that searches for AI-generated videos using a creator's face and lets them report the clips or the accounts behind them. For now only some US creators can use it, a company spokesperson said.
To sign up, creators prove their identity through the verification firm Jumio with a live selfie and an ID check. TikTok says it does not keep the documents and uses face data only for likeness matching. Enrolled creators then review possible matches and flag them.
The test arrives as non-consensual deepfakes spread on social media, including sexualised images made with Grok on X that drew European regulators' attention.
