Deezer has announced a switch that will let listeners hide fully AI-generated music from the service. With the toggle on, such tracks, albums drop out of search results; switching it off brings them back. The company says it will reach users worldwide before the end of 2026.

“We’ve seen a clear user demand for the ability to filter out AI-generated music, and we are now giving everyone the option to remove this content completely from their streaming experience on Deezer, and focus only on human creators and creations, if they wish.”

The announcement leans on figures from its own detection work. Between January 2025 and August 2026 Deezer kept more than 42 million AI tracks out of its recommendations and tagged over 14 million albums. Close to 90,000 fully AI tracks now arrive each day, which on peak days is over half of all deliveries. Fully AI music is still only 1 to 3 percent of streams, and Deezer says up to 85 percent of those streams were fraudulent in 2025 and were demonetised.

The company points to a Deezer and Ipsos survey of 9,000 people in eight countries from November 2025. In it, 45 percent wanted fully AI music filtered out, 97 percent failed to tell AI from human music in a blind test, and 80 percent asked for clear labelling.

Deezer was the first major service to tag AI music and keep it out of recommendations, and it began labelling it explicitly in June 2025. It now licenses its patent-pending detection tool to the wider industry, which it says covers output from Suno, Udio and Riffusion. Bigger steps, such as changing supplier policy, need careful consideration, it says.
