Nexon has swapped out artwork in Dungeon Fighter Online after players objected to AI-assisted illustrations in a new event. The Magical Boy events, built around the game's Male Priest class, went live after maintenance on October 1, and the art on four legendary photo cards given as rewards drew most of the fire.
The event page did say some images had been made with AI generation and retouching, but not which ones or to what degree, so the debate was expected to turn on how AI was used rather than whether. Some players also said the poses, hard shading and expressions recalled Hirohiko Araki's JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, though nothing confirms a particular artist's style was used as a reference.
The images are now replaced. In a notice on its site, Nexon said it would rework the awkward image assets, apologised for AI art it conceded was not polished enough, and promised stricter checks and retouching so the quality problem does not come back.
