Meta has withdrawn the Instagram version of Muse Image, its new AI picture generator, less than a week after it went live. The tool let anyone tag a public account in a prompt and make images of that person, and every public profile was switched on by default.
Users objected to being enrolled without asking, some said the setting kept turning itself back on, and actor Hannah Einbinder and the union SAG-AFTRA spoke out. Meta said the feature had missed the mark; SAG-AFTRA welcomed its removal.
Digital Music News links the episode to xAI's Grok, whose image tool drew a class action and an EU inquiry earlier in the year.
