Video editing company Kapwing opened brand-new TikTok accounts, logged what the For You Page served them, and counted how much was low-effort AI content. By its tally 59% was, with the share growing the further the accounts scrolled.

Children's content fared worst: nearly every video under the #CartoonKids tag was machine-made, and more than half of kids' videos overall. Kapwing also says new TikTok users see about three times as many AI recommendations as new YouTube users.

TikTok already lets people ask for less AI in their feed. Tubefilter reads the study as a sign that the toggle is not enough and that heavier moderation would be needed.
