Jack Dorsey has launched diVine, an app that restores roughly 500,000 clips from the original Vine and lets people post new six-second videos on one condition: a person has to have made them. Uploads must either be recorded inside the app or carry C2PA provenance data showing no generated content was used.

The project is funded by and Other Stuff, the nonprofit Dorsey set up in May 2025 to back experimental open-source social tools, and it is not pitched as a bid for the next giant platform. Former Viners can have their clips removed with a DMCA request, or reclaim their old accounts if they still control the original email or linked social profiles.

Evan Henshaw-Plath, known as Rabble, an early collaborator of Dorsey's now at the nonprofit, says the anti-AI rule came from creators. Veterans of the first app, including Lele Pons, JimmyHere and Jack and Jack, helped shape diVine and pushed for something that filters out AI slop rather than a nostalgia archive. He also hopes creators can earn through brand deals, subscriptions or a pro tier.

Tubefilter notes that the stance sets diVine apart from YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and X, whose owners are all pushing generative AI, with BeReal the only other major app to ban it. The app is out on the App Store, Google Play and the open-source Zapstore; Twitter closed the original Vine in 2017.
