Elon Musk has objected to Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, criticising its casting, and has promised that his Grok AI would make a "historically accurate" version before the end of the year. Meanwhile he ran a contest for AI Odyssey films made with Grok.
As Futurism reported, the $100,000 grand prize went to Nem Perez for a five-minute film. Perez built it around the Phaeacians and Princess Nausicaa, who hear Odysseus tell his story in Homer's poem but are left out of Nolan's version.
Critics were quick to point out flaws. PetaPixel lists a three-eyed Cyclops whose size changes from shot to shot, crew members with feet where their hands should be, and stiff dialogue.
The winning short is still a long way from the feature-length film Musk promised, while Nolan's Odyssey continues to do well at the box office.
