Yuji Horii, the creator of Dragon Quest, has released a free text-based mystery game made with Anthropic's Claude. He shared it on X on 11 October 2026 as a link to a Claude Artifact that runs in the browser. He says it took about 30 minutes from a prompt, though Polygon's summary box says under an hour.
The game is called Komiya in the Interrogation Room. The player questions Komiya, a 72-year-old former locksmith accused of robbing a pawnshop safe, and confronts him with evidence to expose his lies. He has Agitation and Resistance meters, and once Resistance reaches 100 he goes silent. Players are rated on the lies they expose.

Horii has openly praised AI for cutting the time and effort of development, setting it against Portopia Serial Murder Case from 1983, where he wrote the story and handled art and code over a long period. Some backlash followed the release, and Polygon wonders whether fans will value wholly AI-made games the way they value his human-made Dragon Quest work.
Square Enix wants AI to take over most QA and debugging, and a free AI Tech Preview of Portopia on Steam in April 2023 underwhelmed. A Portopia remake with Horii as general director is due in 2027 on Switch 2, Switch and PC.
