Summary
Guggimon is a tall, white, shark-toothed rabbit character made by Superplastic, the Burlington, Vermont studio of Paul Budnitz (founder of Kidrobot) that calls its characters synthetic celebrities. He began as a designer toy and, with Janky, was launched as one of Superplastic's first two animated celebrities, dropping on Instagram in 2019. He bills himself as a fashion horror artist and mixtape producer obsessed with handbags, axes, designer toys, Billie Eilish and The Shining, and the pair's relationship is a running gag in which he is Janky's self-declared destroyer. His profiles post animated skits and fit checks, and he shares a TikTok account with Janky that has passed 11 million followers.
Coverage records a run of commercial firsts for a virtual character: Seven Days reported he and Janky became playable characters in Fortnite in 2021, and Dexerto called him the first virtual influencer in the game after Epic noticed his social videos. He has fronted toy collaborations with J Balvin and Steve Aoki, NFT drops with Paris Hilton and, with Janky, the SUPERGUCCI series co-created with Alessandro Michele, which Highsnobiety said had sold over $20 million in Janky and Guggimon NFTs in a year. A Janky & Guggimon animated show was announced by Superplastic.
Is Guggimon AI?
Yes. Guggimon is a computer-animated virtual character, a shark-toothed rabbit made by the Burlington, Vermont toy and entertainment studio Superplastic, not a real person.
Every page that describes Guggimon describes a made character. Vermont Business Magazine carried Superplastic's 2019 launch announcement, in which Janky and Guggimon were the company's first two "synthetic celebrities" to go live on Instagram. Seven Days calls them animated characters created by Superplastic and says a team of 18 animators and computer-generation experts brought them to life. Dexerto calls Guggimon an animated influencer and the first virtual influencer in Fortnite. No page names a human who performs as him or stands behind his face.
He is "AI" in the sense of a synthetic persona, not in the sense of a generative model. The pages describe 3D animation made by people: Fast Company Middle East says a team of 50 human artists makes the creative decisions, and Vermont Business Magazine says Superplastic hired animators from Hollywood. None of them says his images or videos are made with generative AI. The character's personality is also invented: art director Huck Gee describes him as an artist obsessed with fashion, handbags and horror movies.
What is not known: the pages do not say who writes his captions or who voices his videos, and none records an AI label from Instagram or TikTok. The VirtualHumans profile lists him as inactive, although the dossier recorded Instagram reels posted as recently as September 2026.
