Workers behind Dungeons & Dragons, D&D Beyond, Magic: The Gathering and Duel Masters announced on 6 October that they plan to unionize as United Wizards of the Coast - CWA, and asked Wizards of the Coast to recognize it voluntarily.
“This has to stop; our teams deserve a robust and enforceable AI policy that aligns with our goals and values.”

An election petition is already filed with the NLRB, and Wizards has until 13 October to respond. The Communications Workers of America backs the union, which has also opened a public petition for fans.
Demands include fair pay, reliable healthcare, remote-work protections and safeguards against AI encroachment. The workers say management has driven large language model and generative tool adoption over their teams' wishes, and want an enforceable AI policy.
The name first appeared in April with only the MTG Arena developers; Wizards did not answer that request and the union won its election in June. If Wizards declines now, an NLRB election decides.
