The Rolling Stones' video for "In the Stars," the first single from Foreign Tongues (due July 10), shows Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood as they looked in the late 1970s. Director Francois Rousselet did it with deepfake face replacement.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the technology came from Deep Voodoo, the AI company founded by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. The credits list body doubles for the three members, several deepfake artists and an "AI data wrangler," but the exact method hasn't been made public. Actress Odessa A'zion appears with the band in a warehouse full of fans.

Deep Voodoo has done this for musicians before. It turned Kendrick Lamar into other famous faces in "The Heart Part 5" and made Billy Joel younger for "Turn the Lights Back On."

PetaPixel sets the video against the wider debate over AI de-aging on screen. That debate grew after Robert Zemeckis's Here used real-time face-swapping on Tom Hanks and Robin Wright, and critics worry studios could lean on digital versions of established stars at the expense of younger actors.
