A new five-member AI boy group called muuo was introduced on 14 October 2026, when Stone Music released a pre-release single and an intro video. The clip spread quickly online and went viral.
Viewers soon argued that the members' faces look like those of existing K-pop idols. Names raised include members of TXT and ENHYPEN, TWS's Dohoon and Sungho, and ZEROBASEONE's Sung Hanbin, and some posts claimed each member could be matched to a specific idol.
Critics said the money behind an AI act should go to the thousands of real trainees waiting to debut, and some pointed to the environmental cost of AI.
Koreaboo notes that virtual groups such as MAVE: and parts of SUPERKIND came before, but their designs were clearly not human, whereas muuo's look is far more convincing.
