Good Intent Music, a Sydney booking agency, has apologised after an AI-generated act appeared on a lineup it arranged at Bootleggers Newtown.

Musician Aidan Sammut, who played the same night, raised it publicly: nobody on the bill had been told, and a band member only realised by looking at the act's Instagram, which showed AI visuals and what sounded like generated songs. He called the booking an insult to the other performers, arguing that live music's whole appeal is that it is human and that generated acts take paid slots from people who play. The act, Afro Charles, says a human singer performs its songs on stage.

Founder Rob Carroll accepted the blame, saying he had not checked the act's social media and that it came via an agency whose pitch read like a real artist's. He promised tighter vetting and said Good Intent does not support AI.

It happened as Australian musicians were lobbying Canberra for stronger protection against AI training on their work.
