SAG-AFTRA's Executive Committee has unanimously backed a tentative television animation contract with the AMPTP, and members now decide whether to ratify it. The union says it went after better pay, AI protections, residuals and benefit funding. Voting ends on 29 October 2026 at 5 p.m. Pacific.
The deal runs four years, with a 3% wage rise each year and the first backdated to 5 July 2026. Residuals for shows moving to subscription streaming go up about 5% on average, and the subscriber factor for qualifying shows on large foreign streamers moves from 39% to 41%. Employers add 1% to the Health Plan, then from 2028 another 1% to pension and retirement, plus 0.25% for a new paid parental leave program.
On AI, the union says it carried over gains from its 2026 live-action agreements while keeping terms specific to animation. The 2024 animation contract was its first to set AI protections for voice actors.
