The Motion Picture Association has welcomed the Trump administration's National Policy Framework for AI, published the same day. The framework seeks one national set of AI rules that would override state laws.
MPA chief Charles Rivkin praised it for accepting that AI training on copyrighted work is disputed and that courts, deciding fair use case by case, should settle it. He also asked Congress to pass the NO FAKES Act against digital replicas.
The studios want AI's savings but object to their films training models; Disney has sent Google a cease-and-desist. Trump had already signed an order in December overriding state AI rules, and said in July that paying for all training material was unrealistic. Critics dislike the override of state protections, and the White House wants legislation within months.
