A video that uses the Chuttamalle number from the 2024 film Devara: Part 1 has been circulating on X after being altered with AI so that it shows co-star Janhvi Kapoor in obscene content. The song was composed by Anirudh Ravichander, sung by Shilpa Rao and filmed for Koratala Siva's picture.

“Please do not watch, share or engage with such content. Today it is someone else. Tomorrow, it could be your mother, sister, wife or daughter”

Her co-star Jr NTR responded on Saturday 3 October, calling the clip disgusting and promising legal action against whoever made it and whoever passes it on. He urged fans to ignore the video rather than watch or forward it, and appealed to state governments and the Centre to bring in firm rules against AI misuse.

Hyderabad Cyber Crime police have since registered a case on a complaint. Officers are working out who produced the clip, where it first appeared and how far it travelled, and are gathering digital evidence. The reports seen do not name a suspect, and the investigation is continuing.

The wider film community has joined in. Chiranjeevi proposed a committee and support cell, run with the Telugu Film Chamber and the Producers' Council, to coordinate with cyber police and get such content taken down. He said this is not entertainment and that makers and amplifiers should be held responsible. Vijay Deverakonda also asked for strict action, likening AI humiliation to sexual abuse. Coverage recalls earlier Indian deepfake cases involving Rashmika Mandanna, Kajol, Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif.
