Actor and BJP member of parliament Kangana Ranaut has gone to the Delhi High Court to have obscene and AI-generated material about her removed from the internet. Her personality-rights suit came up on 8 October 2026, and Justice Vikas Mahajan issued summons to the defendants and notice on her request for an interim injunction.
Her lawyer described sexual and pornographic content, fake news and AI-made posts that put words in her mouth she never said. Counsel told the court that a fact check had found one circulating picture was generated by AI, with no genuine photograph behind it. The judge asked the team to name the defendants against whom takedown orders are being sought.

Ranaut's case is that the material defames her, harms her reputation and infringes her personality rights. The relief sought is limited to obscene and fabricated content; her side is not, for now, asking the court to act against memes or satire. The court signalled it would pass an interim order.
The same hearing dealt with a similar suit by Telugu actor Vijay Deverakonda, over merchandise, AI posts, impersonation and false endorsements, where summons and an interim order were also promised. The Delhi court has already protected a long list of public figures, among them Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Salman Khan, Tabu, Allu Arjun, Kajol and R Madhavan. The next hearing is listed for February 2027.
