British trance DJ and producer Gareth Emery has started Emotional Intelligence Records, a label under his LSR/CITY project that will put out only human-made music and artwork, EDMTunes reports. He announced it in a social media post attacking AI music, in which he said his frustration began when he learned that AI models had been trained on his own records.
Emery warned that the business is drifting toward counterfeit artists and voices, training data taken without permission, and streaming platforms whose biggest players seem content to bury human music under endless synthetic "slop". He said imperfections are not a flaw but evidence that a person made the work, and that he wants to fight to keep that.
While the rest of the industry rushes toward AI, he said, the label will be a small AI-free corner of the internet. Its first release, LSR/CITY's "Burn It Down", is open for pre-saves, and Emery told fans he expects no industry support at all, so each one counts.
