The European Commission has opened a targeted consultation on whether EU copyright law needs new measures as technology changes how creative works are made and used, Advanced Television reports.
It covers three areas: the use of copyright-protected works in AI, piracy of content such as live events, and how the single equitable remuneration right for music performers and producers is applied.
The Commission calls the current framework robust but asks whether it should be reinforced. The exercise builds on a call for evidence earlier in 2026, and rights holders, AI developers, collecting societies, event organisers and consumer groups can respond until 3 November.
