Boy George has withdrawn from the London Palladium run of Jesus Christ Superstar, where he was booked to play King Herod in early August, days after posting a pro-Israel track he later said was made with AI.
The song, titled We Will Dance Again, drew criticism online over its lyrics about the war. The singer confirmed on Threads that it had been generated with AI and described it as AI "for good", while spending several days arguing with critics on social media.
His manager Paul Kemsley announced the exit on Instagram, framing it as stepping aside so the production could stay the focus, and apologised to fans who had bought tickets to see him.
