Synopsis
A woman with wood-element powers, a survivor of an apocalypse, is reborn in a famine year as a convicted maid exiled to the frontier. Her only wish is a quiet, steady life, so she marries into the poorest soldier household at the border garrison rather than chase a rich match, and sets out to make the barren land feed her new family.
She begins small: digging wild vegetables, selling herbs, buying land and improving crops, expanding her fields step by step on a plan. Her husband, a quiet, strong soldier, follows her lead without question. His mother protects her family fiercely, his sister is sharp and hardworking, and his brother is quick to join in whatever the household does. The household is poor but united, and nobody in it turns on her.
The story is built around farming and family rather than revenge. Each season widens her world: the first solves hunger, the second opens hundreds of acres of farmland, the third moves into trade, and later seasons turn to building up the frontier and, further on, the fortunes of the state. It has a rival in her younger sister, who is jealous and demands the same treatment, but she schemes only quietly. The tone is warm and steady, with the pleasure drawn from a hard-working household doing well.

The Convicted Wife Who Farms the Frontier and Raises a God of War (发配边关,罪妻开荒养出战神, nicknamed 罪妻战神) is a Chinese 3D animated microdrama series (漫剧), described by the Chinese outlet Pedaily, republishing a Newrank (新榜) article, as an AI short drama. It is made under the name "大多多动画" (Dadouduo Animation) and adapts a web novel of the same name. Pedaily's source says the maker is an individual creator, a woman who runs a fan group; other accounts describe the studio as a couple from Sichuan, which is unconfirmed.
Newrank counted that the first season passed 2 billion plays on Douyin, and that by mid-July 2026 the series had reached season 8 with more than 4 billion Douyin plays in total and over 10 million saves on the Hongguo short-drama app. Season 9 had more than 1.11 million reservations a day after season 8 went up. Newrank writes that it became one of the year's biggest dark horses in the short-drama market, with no face-slapping reversals, and credits it with pushing a wave of farming-themed AI microdramas: DataEye data it cites put farming and land-clearing titles at over a fifth of the top 100 AI short dramas in June 2026.
The series was released in fast succession. Newrank reports the second season came out two days after the first, and all seven seasons were out in under a month. The maker explained to fans that a season of 60 to 100 minutes takes three to four days of non-stop work plus another three to four days from submission for review to release; from season 6 the pace followed the source novel's updates. Seasons are also uploaded in compilations to YouTube by other channels, including the 破晓动漫社 (Dawn Anime Club) collection of seasons 1 to 7.
The success set off what Newrank calls a contest of "one book, many adaptations": on Hongguo alone there are 14 versions of the same novel, among them a 3D comic version, a realistic-human version and a livelier-heroine version, with many commentary-style videos on Douyin. The maker uses behind-the-scenes clips and in-character announcements to say that hers is the only authentic version and to describe its anti-fake labels. Newrank also counts at least 17 farming-themed AI microdramas with more than 100 million Douyin plays each.

Mostly positive: viewers love the heroine's resourcefulness, her animal companions and the version's fuller story; criticism is of details that defy common sense and a slow build-up
Top themes
“These little animals are really cute, I envy the heroine getting to interact with Big Black, Red Tassel the tiger and the others”
“This version may be the best-looking one”
“I hope for another update on this. I already watched most versions, but this one has a beginning. It's already my 8th time watching, thank you.”
“The drama is good and close to life; in this 1-7 compilation the male lead's face and voice are different, the single episodes had a better-looking face and a nicer voice. Why are there so many versions?”
“A little rabbit making two tables of dishes is too much!”
“It's good, but raising a war god is far too slow-going.”
