Synopsis
A boy lives in a household ruled by a strict father, where rules and responsibilities shape much of his daily life. His routine changes when he meets an enigmatic old neighbour, a professor who turns out to be a runaway jinn from the magical realm of Koh-e-Qaf, also spelled Kokaf.
The old jinn is Nastoor, who opens a doorway into that realm. The pages name other characters carried over from the older show, among them Zakoota Jin, Bil Batori and the sorcerer Hamoon Jadoogar, and note that the film has no original cast.
The film takes its world from the 1993 Pakistani children's serial Ainak Wala Jin, whose central figure Nastoor Jin is a genie who comes to the human world in search of a cure for his weak eyesight. It is an Urdu-language fantasy pitched at a younger generation, leaning on the nostalgia the programme carries. One commentator writes that the story has nothing to do with the original show.

Ainak Wala Jin - The Movie is an Urdu-language animated fantasy feature of about 85 minutes, directed and written by Farhan M. Khan. It opened in cinemas across Pakistan in late July 2026; most pages give 24 July (state radio's report is dated 25 July), and it screened at Cinepax, Universal, Cue and ME Cinemas, according to PakistaniArt. Its trailer and promos ran on PTV Home's YouTube channel, and the film is promoted as Asia's first AI-generated feature-length film.
Pakistani press describe the film as AI-generated; one commentary calls it a 3D animated feature made entirely with generative AI, and PakistaniArt refers to prompt-driven generative tools. None of the pages read names the models or software used. DesiBlitz adds that AI-generated music was added. The film is an adaptation of the PTV Lahore children's serial that first aired in February 1993 and ran 152 episodes, written by Abdul Hameed and directed by Hafeez Tahir.
Khan is a Punjab University alumnus who works as a filmmaker, journalist and writer, per PakistaniArt, which says the film was produced by Faisal Saleem in collaboration with PTV Network. ProPakistani reports PTV as media partner. Khan has said in interviews that he wrote the story himself and calls the film the world's first AI-generated feature with fully consistent characters and locations; PakistaniArt disputes the claim, naming other AI features including The Sweet Idleness and Hell Grind. The official YouTube upload had 2,567 views when read on 10 October 2026.
Tahir objected publicly after the release. In an Instagram video of 30 July 2026, which had about 622,000 views on 10 October, he said he conceived the idea, name and story, that nobody sought his permission, and that the AI visuals, voices and music altered his characters, saying Nastoor Jin now looks like a dacoit. He called the release "daylight robbery" and asked whether to stay quiet or take legal action. The Express Tribune, ProPakistani and DesiBlitz reported the dispute; ProPakistani adds that Tahir also criticised PTV and called the AI music poor. No page read states a legal outcome.
Other reaction was also critical. Critics quoted by PakistaniArt say the trailer borrows heavily from The Little Prince (2015), and artist Maryam Zahid questioned Khan's story claim; a commentary on pakistanicinema.net calls the film "AI slop" and describes inconsistent character models in the promos. PakistaniArt also notes that Juggun Kazim praised it as a pioneering milestone. The only Letterboxd review seen was a one-line negative post from a reviewer who said they had not watched it. The pages present it as a test of how AI should treat beloved local properties, with the creator's dispute at the centre of that debate.
