Biography
Farhan M Khan, credited as Farhan Khan in most press, is a Pakistani filmmaker, journalist and writer and an alumnus of Punjab University, as described by the art and film site PakistaniArt. He is a different person from Hafeez Tahir, who created and directed the original 1993 PTV series Ainak Wala Jin; Khan is the maker of the 2026 AI film that adapts it.
Khan wrote and directed Ainak Wala Jin - The Movie, an 85-minute Urdu animated fantasy-family-comedy released in Pakistani cinemas on 24 July 2026. It is promoted, including on its Letterboxd and IMDb listings, as Asia's first AI-generated feature-length film. It follows a boy raised under a strict father whose old jinn neighbour opens a doorway into a magical realm called Kokaf. Faisal Saleem produced it, reportedly in collaboration with the PTV Network.
PakistaniArt reports that Khan has said in several morning-show interviews that he wrote the story himself. The same critic argued the trailer echoes the 2015 film The Little Prince, and called the film a solo, AI-assisted production, a contrast with films made by large teams of artists. Online artists also voiced similar criticisms.
On 1 August 2026 Hafeez Tahir posted an Instagram video calling the film "daylight robbery". He said neither the filmmaker nor the cinema asked his permission, and that the AI visuals, voices, music and redesigned characters, especially Nastoor Jin, ruined his idea; he asked whether to take legal action. Tribune, ProPakistani, ARY and others covered the dispute. The pages read give no reply from Khan to these claims.
