I Pay My Dues (Still Breathin’)

I Pay My Dues (Still Breathin’) is a single by Black River Whiskey, a Southern Gothic music project whose vocals are credited to Ray Harlan, a character the project's site calls its vocal persona. The site says the project is written, composed and produced by D.L. Malcolm and that its music is made with the assistance of AI production tools, with the visuals made using AI video and image generators. It was released on 20 February 2026 as a self-release under the project's own name, the name on its ℗ line, rather than on Malcolm's Dead River Records imprint that carries most of the act's singles, and the track runs 3 minutes 14 seconds. Deezer lists the release with its AI-generated content flag. When its Spotify track page was read on 30 September 2026 it showed 1,065,423 plays.
