Biography
Yuanbo Song is an AI filmmaker and director from China. Song wrote and directed Passenger, an AI short about Mira, a tsunami survivor who restores sculptures of her parents; an intruder smashes them just before an earthquake, and it later emerges that he was trying to save her.
The film's YouTube credits give Song direction, writing, character and scene design, and music (with Tansy Lam, using Suno), alongside second director Wang Kaiqi, sound designer and editor Hu Zhe, and generative artist Ma Ning. Reply says the team used Runway Gen 4.5, Higgsfield, Seedance 2.0 and Kling 3.0, and that AI let them stage large-scale disaster scenes and ruined cityscapes in far less time and at far lower cost than conventional VFX.
Passenger was one of ten finalists at the third Reply AI Film Festival, picked from more than 3,000 entries from 76 countries, with the awards held in Venice on 6 September 2026. The upload also lists a screening at the Merge Film Festival in Massagno, Switzerland, in October 2026; the film was posted to YouTube on 3 October 2026 by the channel Galette Bleu.
