Xiao Jixiangtian (小吉祥天)

Xiao Jixiangtian (小吉祥天) is a Chinese screenwriter best known as the main writer of the Soul Ferry (灵魂摆渡) franchise. A 36Kr interview from 2018 says he trained in painting, spent about two years as a script supervisor and worked in post-production before turning to writing, and describes himself as not traditionally trained.

He wrote the 2017 web film Soul Ferry: Yellow Spring, which the interview says passed 50 million views in eight days, earned about 13 million yuan at the box office and holds 7.1 on Douban. Press also credits him on the seasons of the original series and on Soul Ferry: Ten Years, the 2026 drama directed by Ju Xingmao. As of that 2018 piece he ranked third on a Chinese web drama screenwriter power list.

Asked how he writes, he says a writer must put in what he truly believes in, or audiences will not like it. In August 2026 he wrote the Floating Life Dream AIGC web films for iQIYI, a prequel series that goes back to the origins of the franchise's three leads.
