Biography

About Taylor Swift

Taylor Alison Swift was born on December 13, 1989, in West Reading, Pennsylvania, and describes herself through her work as a songwriter; Wikipedia calls her an American singer-songwriter known for autobiographical songwriting and artistic reinventions. She moved to Nashville as a teenager, signed with Sony/ATV Tree Music Publishing in 2004 at age 14, and signed with Big Machine Records in 2005 on the condition that her albums would be self-written.

She debuted as a country singer with Taylor Swift (2006) and Fearless (2008), whose singles "Teardrops on My Guitar", "Love Story" and "You Belong with Me" crossed over to pop radio. She then moved through rock-leaning Speak Now (2010), electronic-tinged Red (2012), the synth-pop 1989 (2014) and the trap-influenced Reputation (2017), collecting Billboard Hot 100 number ones such as "Shake It Off" and "Blank Space".

After moving to Republic Records in 2018 she released Lover (2019) and re-recorded four of her first six albums following a dispute with Big Machine over her masters. She turned to indie folk on Folklore and Evermore (2020), then mellower pop on Midnights (2022) and The Tortured Poets Department (2024), and soft rock on The Life of a Showgirl (2025), whose singles include "The Fate of Ophelia" and "Opalite".

Wikipedia lists her among the highest-grossing live music artists and best-selling artists of all time, names her the only artist to be IFPI Global Recording Artist of the Year six times, and says she was Time Person of the Year in 2023 and became the youngest inductee into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2026. Her accolades include 14 Grammy Awards. The page also records her marriage to Travis Kelce in 2026.
