Biography
Ope Banwo, who styles himself Dr Ope Banwo, is a Nigerian-born lawyer and entrepreneur based in Omaha, Nebraska. Pages describe him as born in Lagos in 1964, a law graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University with a master's in law from the University of Lagos.
In Nigerian entertainment he is known as a movie producer and the first MD/CEO of Dove Media, the media network run by the Redeemed Christian Church of God. He also launched a record label, Stingomania Records, and worked with director Daniel Ademinokan on Ghetto Dreamz, nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the 2012 Nollywood Movie Awards.
He has written a book, One Country, 2,500 Movies, on the problems of Nigeria's film industry, and in a December 2025 interview he argued that Nollywood should adopt global production standards, including certification for producers and directors before they get investor funding. He says he has lost a lot of money investing in the industry.
More recently he founded Aiflix360, an AI content company. In February 2025 The Sun Nigeria reported him as Africa's first creator of a fully AI-generated feature film, made without human actors, physical sets or manual cinematography, with a 14-track AI-made soundtrack album slated for more than 109 streaming platforms in March 2025. The film is titled The Omegapro Scandemic in that article; a YouTube upload credits him as producer and director of Omegamax Conspiracy, billed as the first African AI movie. He told the paper the innovation does not replace human creativity but expands it.
