Biography
Ernest Desumbila is a commercial and music-video director born and based in Barcelona and represented by the production company Sauvage. According to Sauvage, his viral Adidas spot "There Will Be Haters" launched his international career and his mock energy-drink advert "Ibizious" brought him a wider audience; he has since made work for brands including Gatorade, Axe, Pepsi and Nike.
The agency also credits him with music videos for Kitsuné, Owsla and Columbia Records, among them LSD's "Thunderclouds", which it says has passed 410 million YouTube views, and a League of Legends film, "Phoenix", that it says drew more than 15 million views in its first week. It lists a Best Young Director award at Cannes in 2014, five Vimeo Staff Picks and a first short film, Blood Metal Revenge (2019), which premiered at Sitges.
At the 2026 Astana AI Film Festival, held 1–3 October, his AI-generated short Looking For Perseida, which he wrote and directed and is credited for the music, placed third in the main programme, The Future Worth Living In, winning US$100,000; the festival drew 8,067 entries from 125 countries. The film follows Silas, a robot with a human soul, crossing a desert world in search of his love, Perseida. He told Kazinform that he heard about the competition from his wife, had ten days to make the film and shut himself in at home to finish it, and that his long-term aim is a feature.
