Former angel investor who wrote, scored and created No Big Deal, a 2026 British sitcom pilot produced with AI by ModeLabs.ai and released on YouTube to largely negative reviews.
Biography
Andrew Dickinson is a former angel investor who created and wrote No Big Deal, a sitcom pilot whose footage was generated with AI, and wrote its original music, which the musician Andy Pike performed and recorded. C21 describes his earlier career as investment management and Wikipedia as investment banking; he says each storyline grew from a real incident in that world, exaggerated for comedy.
Set at Janus, an eccentric investment firm hunting for the next billion-pound idea, the pilot was produced by the UK AI studio ModeLabs.ai, which mainly makes visuals for ecommerce and fashion brands, and was released on YouTube on 11 September 2026; Wikipedia also lists him as its director and a producer. He says he first planned a conventional TV production but found it slow and prohibitively expensive, and that the script was rewritten more than 65 times during production.
Critics were hostile: Chortle gave the roughly 30-minute pilot one star, and Wikipedia reports a zero-star Guardian review and an overwhelmingly negative reception.
