The clearest evidence is how Amanda Bims describes herself. Her Instagram bio reads "Virtual Bae" and, in the fuller version VirtualHumans.org records, "Digital model": she presents as a computer-made character rather than a real woman using filters or AI tools. VirtualHumans.org, a directory that tracks virtual influencers, gives her first appearance as 15 March 2019 and her origin as Paris, and now marks her account inactive or discontinued. Our research also recorded her among the virtual influencers sampled in Truth in Advertising's 2019-2020 look at sponsored posts, though that page could not be re-opened for this answer.

The evidence is thin, but it points one way. No page reports a model, actor or voice behind the face, and none suggests she is a real person. Against that, no page names who made or runs her either: VirtualHumans.org gives only a project email address, and no interview, press release or studio site explains how her images are produced. Instagram showed no AI label in what was read.

What stays unknown is who operates the account and exactly how the images are made. The account has been mostly quiet since late 2023, with one post in July 2025 hinting at a new project.
