Universal Music Group has signed an AI partnership with NVIDIA through the chipmaker's Music Flamingo programme. UMG says the work covers music discovery, creation and fan engagement, with its catalogue feeding NVIDIA's music model.
NVIDIA media vice-president Richard Kerris described a catalogue listeners could explore conversationally, and said the project would include safeguards for attribution, copyright and artists' work.
American Songwriter reads the deal chiefly as a way to learn more about listening habits, and notes that both companies put protecting artists first while many musicians stay wary of AI.
