The Devil Wears Prada 2 includes mocking artwork aimed at Miranda Priestly that, in the story, is meant to look machine-made. It was in fact painted by a person: artist Alexis Franklin revealed on Instagram that director David Frankel had asked her to paint Priestly serving burgers and fries for the film.
Many of Franklin's followers said they had assumed the image was AI output, given what the film is about, and some had taken it for an AI-generated advert. The replies were largely delighted that it was made by hand.
The reveal came on the sequel's opening weekend, when the Disney/20th Century release was projected to take about $80.5 million.
