Actor and former Union minister Chiranjeevi has filed a complaint with Hyderabad's cybercrime police after finding explicit deepfake videos of himself on several websites. Police have registered a case and are trying to trace who made and spread the clips.
Hyderabad police commissioner VC Sajjanar said the cybercrime team was working to identify those responsible. Chiranjeevi filed a second complaint about anonymous social media accounts, one of them named in his filing, that he says abused him in crude Telugu, harming his reputation and causing him distress. He cited an existing court order and has asked senior advocate S Chagla to act for him.
Nobody behind the videos has been publicly identified, and the claims are still under investigation. NewsX notes that Sajjanar has recently urged families to agree private safe words to check suspicious calls, since AI can now copy faces and voices convincingly.
The case adds a leading Telugu film star to the list of Indian performers dealing with AI-made sexual imagery of themselves, content that is realistic enough to be hard to catch before it spreads.
