Vertical-video platform Shortical has released a trailer for Inevitable, an AI-generated thriller microdrama in which Israeli actor Aki Avni appears only as an AI rendering of himself, made with his consent and input.
The plot turns the arrangement into drama: a fictional Avni sells his face to an AI studio, then finds his digital double tied to an attempted murder. Avni says he helped shape the story without a day on set, and argues AI will join an actor's toolkit rather than replace screen work.
The series was created and directed by Ofir Lobel, who also made Bound by Fire, Shortical's first fully AI-generated microdrama, released earlier in May. Lobel says the team chose to put fears about AI at the centre of the plot.
Shortical says it has made over 100 scripted microdramas, mixing live action and AI, with more than 20 million episodes watched a month.
