Seth Rogen has come out firmly against AI in film and online content. He told Brut that writers who reach for it should find other work.
He and his wife and producing partner, Lauren Miller Rogen, were promoting Tangles, the animated film they co-produced. They said it was entirely hand-drawn with no AI, so a person had touched every frame. Leah Nelson directed it from Sarah Leavitt's graphic memoir about her mother's Alzheimer's, and Rogen voices a character.
Rogen said he doesn't see what AI video is for. He said the Instagram clips claiming Hollywood is finished are among the dumbest things he has ever seen.
On writers, he said skipping the process of writing means you are not really writing, and that people who don't want to do that work should do something else. A tool that helps him write less holds no appeal, he added, because he enjoys writing. My Modern Met noted that when he is not working in film, Rogen makes pottery and runs a homeware brand, Houseplant.
