Storyboard artist Simeon Wilkins has rejected online claims that AI was used to make his storyboards for Zach Cregger's Resident Evil film, GeekTyrant reports. After some of his panels circulated and viewers unused to the loose, fast style of storyboard art suspected generative AI, he posted a selection, which he described as a small sample of the boards he made with Cregger, and said every one was drawn by hand.

His statement covers his own artwork for the film, not every stage of its production, but it settles the question the viral images raised. The rumour surfaced while the film was doing well: according to the outlet it held a 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes and took $100 million internationally over its opening weekend.

The film stars Austin Abrams as Bryan, a medical courier sent into Raccoon City on the last job of his night just as a zombie outbreak takes hold. Cregger, a keen player of the games, has drawn on the whole franchise rather than retelling one of its stories.
