A report from Holywater Tech and Owl & Co. values the microseries market at $150 billion outside China and finds that AI-generated vertical dramas turn viewers into paying customers almost as well as live-action ones. It draws on data from Holywater's own apps and a survey of 2,737 people.
On MyMuse, Holywater's app for AI-made shows, 23.6% of users convert to paying, against 23.9% on its live-action app MyDrama. Nine in ten paying MyMuse viewers are still watching after 100 minutes. Both apps give away some episodes and charge for the rest.
The audience is shifting too: men grew from about 1% of MyDrama's monthly users to 30% in seven quarters, and viewers aged 22 to 27 more than tripled. TheWrap cautions the results may say more about microdramas than Hollywood.
