South Korean lawmaker Kim Jae-won of the Rebuilding Korea Party hosted a National Assembly forum on September 29 on AI in the content industry, and promised legislation to protect creators' work and livelihoods as AI spreads through games, webtoons, music and video.

Samjong KPMG's Kang Seung-mi said about half of game companies now use AI, and warned of mass-produced low-quality titles. Dong-A University's Lee Dong-gyu, citing Hollywood's AI strikes, urged labels for AI output and human review duties. Wrtn, which runs the AI storytelling app Crack, said creators there act more as world designers than writers. A Yulchon lawyer noted that courts abroad disagree on whether AI training is fair use, and the content agency KOCCA said it will spend 7.5 billion won this year on AI support for small studios.

Kim said protecting creators' jobs need not clash with productivity, and pledged legislation and policy support for rules studios can apply right away.
