A person who made deepfake videos of aespa members Karina and Winter and sold them for profit has been sentenced to two years and six months in prison, SM Entertainment announced on June 18.
The ruling came from the criminal division of the Daegu High Court, which also ordered 80 hours of sexual violence treatment and a seven-year ban on working at institutions for children and teenagers.
The agency said it watches fan reports and a long list of Korean and international platforms, and that its deepfake investigations keep producing results. It is working with platforms to unmask anonymous accounts and promises no settlements.
