Entravision is giving its new Spanish-language streaming news service, Entravision AHORA, an AI on-screen personality named LIA, short for Latina Inteligencia Artificial, ComingSoon reports. LIA will appear next to the human anchors during live coverage with real-time data, weather, election results and explainers. The company says she will support its journalists, not replace them.
AHORA launched on 8 September as a national news service for US Hispanic audiences, covering breaking news, politics, immigration, the economy, public safety, health, weather, sport and Latino communities. Entravision's leadership pitches it as national in reach but close to local communities.
This is not the company's first AI host. Entravision already had an AI radio personality, Coyotec, on José 97.5/107.1 KLYY in Los Angeles, working alongside presenter Geraldine "GeeGee" Guzman.
