"Efsaneler Takımı" (Team of Legends), an animated feature billed as Turkey's first film made with artificial intelligence, was due in cinemas on 2 October. It follows a group of unlikely heroes from across Anatolia who join forces to protect the country's history, on a mission that takes them to Istanbul's historic treasures.
One of them is the Denizli rooster, the local breed famous for record-long crowing. Named Fırfır, he is meant to be more than a mascot. He is written as a disciplined, patriotic, organising war veteran who runs his coop with strict order, and he treats a call from a Kangal dog, another national symbol, as a call-up. The local press presented his casting as a point of pride for the province.
Director Cengizhan Uluocak said the team picked characters from different regions on purpose, and chose the rooster to pass on ideas of patriotism and solidarity so children grow up seeing local heritage as worth guarding. Haber Denizli's report does not say how AI was used in production.
