Charlie Puth has taken the title of chief music officer at Moises, an AI app that splits songs into separate vocal and instrument tracks, detects chords and helps with arrangements. He is meant to steer product and creative direction from a working musician's point of view.
Puth says he has used the app for years and pitched AI as a learning and sketching aid rather than a stand-in for players. Moises chief executive Geraldo Ramos said the company is not trying to generate songs for its users.
The appointment came with a contest to cover or remix Puth's song "Beat Yourself Up" on the platform, with $100K in cash and prizes on offer.
