The new season of Chanteurs masqués, TVA's Sunday-night singing show in Quebec, has added AI-generated footage to the short clue films that introduce each costumed singer, Showbizz.net reports. It is one of several changes this year, alongside the much-discussed question marks.
Some viewers are unhappy. On Facebook and Reddit, several say they miss the work of the human craftspeople who shaped those clue clips in earlier seasons, when the segments relied far more on hand-made work.
The outlet suggests the move was probably made to save money. It notes that AI is turning up in more and more TV productions and asks how much space it should take next to human creativity, while stressing that the show is still built by a large human team.
